Effectiveness of KarivaBy Laura from Tobias, NE on January 16, 2006 Category: Kariva (Oral) My gynocologist put me on Kariva after I had severe PMS for most of the month while on my former type of birth control (he put me on the 28 day pill pack). For the first few months, I felt terriffic. After the fourth month, I began to have more PMS-type symptoms, such as irritability, fatigue, bloating, and heavy breakthrough bleeding, even when I was still taking the active pills. After two months, I contacted my doctor, who will change my prescription after my next pack. If I continue with the breakthrough bleeding, how effective is this medication for birth control? |
karivaHi, I recently just was prescribed Kariva. I haven't started the medication yet. I will on Sunday. For one year I was on Trinessa and I LOVED IT!! Then I heard from my pharmacist it was discontinued. Then the said that Tri sprintec was the same. This is when I have experienced for the past two months with excessive irritable , and emotional symptoms. I talked with my doctor and she suggested Kariva because this birth control has the same ammount of estrogen and progesteron in every pill, up until the week of your period. I think those white tablets are .15 mg. She said that can help with emotional reactions that occur when people are on birth control like Tri sprintec (same as ortho tri cyclin) where the dose of estrogen and progesteron is different each week. I asked her about Kariva's effectiveness to prevent pregnancy and she said it works the same. If it wasn't effective they wouldn't make it as effective birth control (and she laughed).
hope it works for me and YOU!!
