Can Requip Ropinirole HCI cause insomnia?By Mary from Rochester, NY on January 09, 2006 Category: ROPINIROLE (Oral) (Tablet) My husband, age 59, was experiencing tremor in the right hand affecting his writing and eating, but did not affect anything else. After a visit to a neurologist, it was stated that he had Parkinisms. He first went on Mirapex. After being on it for a while, the symptom did improve greatly, but caused him to be so drowsy that he would nearly fall asleep while driving and could barely do his job during the day without wanting to nap. So the doctor has now put him on Requip Ropinirole HCI. He has been on a low dose of 0.25MG for three days now and and has not had a good night's sleep since he began taking it. Next week he will be on a dose of 0.5MG. Will the sleeplessness most likely get worse? He normally has low blood preasure around 100 over 60 or thereabouts. He took it this evening and it was 125 over 75. I know that is quite normal, but for him it has increased. Is it too soon to think this may not be the medicine for him or could this be a normal reaction? I read that drowsiness is more apt to happen. |
