my granddaughter age 4 and one half has to use albuterol when she starts to have coughing spells. She becomes nasty and bilergent. When she is wheened off the med, she becomes bad. Yesterday she put a push pen in her best friend in day care. She kept insisting the friend drink her chocolate milk. A teacher happen to catch the action. Had her friend swallowdd the pin she would have been harmed, The school knows my granddaughter is a good kid but they had to remove her from the class and put her in with strange kids. My daughter is taking this bad. When she talked to my granddaughter, she understood what she did and what the outcome could have been, then she hit her mother in the stomach.. This child is generally good, but not now. She said she was sorry and did not want to go to another class. This morning she cried to be let in the class room, and even the teacher was crying, but could not let her in. The headmistress of the school is concerned that when she goes to kindergarden, she will be branded as a problem child. Thil only happens when she is on albuterol or when wheened off. please help,. by giving me info that will help. Is there some chemical reaction? Sam was a premi and her lungs were not developed. She weighed 2lbs 11 ozs. Please help!

albuterol strange behavior

My two 6 year old twin daughters were recently prescribed albuterol for wheezing of unknown origin, possibly due to a respiratory infection or allergy. My husband and I noticed behavioral changes, slightly different for each girl. The smaller twin became almost bipolar-overly excited and giddy, then suddenly furious and teary. Her larger sister seemed fine for the first 6 days, then began to complain of a stomach ache. Then, she too began to act unusually emotional and angry. Both complained more than usual about nightmares. After one week, I am planning to ask the doctor how quickly I can wean them from the medicine. They have not been diagnosed with asthma and this stuff seems pretty scary from where we're sitting.
