Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo vs. TrinessaBy Maritza from United States on December 31, 2005 Category: TriNessa (Oral) I'm switching from Ortho Tri-Clyclen Lo to Trinessa becasue my inusurance company doesn't cover Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo anymore. I love Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. Is Trinessa truly the same? I have no mood changes with Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and my cycle is great! Please help. I want to make sure I'm changing to the right kind of pill with the same ingredients. |
Should I switch from Ortho Tri Cyclen to Trinessa?I have the same exact problem! Can’t afford to pay $40/month for ortho tricyclen lo. I initially started on regular ortho tricyclen so I don’t anticipate any problems, but just wanted to hear from anyone who’s made the switch. By KC on January 05, 2006 | Reply | DONT DO IT!!!If at all possible do NOT make the switch. I have been taking trinessa for about 2 months and it has made me do some crazy things. I never had any problems with moods or anything when i was on ortho tricyclen but when i switched to trinessa i cried just because there was no reason to make me cry. i broke up with my bf for a day casue i decided that i wanted to be on my own and my bf is a hospital corpman in the navy and he didnt get it so he did his own research and we figured out that trinessa was my problem. so i would make the switch if you have any choice. GOOD LUCK By Cameron on January 12, 2006 | Reply | why not... cramps have been the only problem for meI was on depo, the shot, for almost 4 years and some people say that its really unhealthy so i wanted to change and I was put on trinessa, my only problem with it is cramps, I never had cramps before( and I didn't have my period the whole time on depo), but the longer I've been on it the better they get. I think that my mood swings have gone down after getting on trinessa and it only costs me $15 a month. By Allyson from Ashland, Wi on January 13, 2006 | Reply | I prefer TrinessaI was prescribed ortho try cyclen and when i got my prescription filled, they gave me the generic (trinessa). I had no problems with it at all. When I refilled the prescription, I decided to go with the name-brand, and god it was horrible. I had a constant headache (never went away for the entire month, even with tylenol)...and my face broke out so bad, zits all over my face. And I rarely get zits. So I switched back to trinessa and everything is back to normal. By Unknown on May 19, 2006 | Reply | Don't take TrinessaI have been on Trinessa for a year, and it has been horrible. I have had all sorts of health problems such as being exhausted all the time, no energy, severely decreased sex drive, weight gain, breast tenderness, mood swings, vaginal infections, and much, much more. I have always been extremely active, upbeat, and healthy, and all of these crazy things started happening this year that I didn't know what was wrong. I usually don't have to go to the doctor at all, and I have had to go back and forth to the doctor all year, with nothing ever being diagnosed. I have found so many horrible complaints on the web that are mirror images of every physical complaint that I have had. I keep finding more and more websites about the horrors of Trinessa. I threw my Trinessa in the trash this weekend, and I am going to demand that I get my Ortho-tricyclen back - I never had any problems with that. Good luck. By Alison from Kailua, Hawaii on May 29, 2006 | Reply | Trinessa compared to Ortho Tri-CyclenHey I just read your post. I have only been on trinessa for eight days and yesterday I some really scary happened to me. I started crying a lot yesterday around 2:00am. I couldn't sleep. I woke my bf up and told him that I didnt know what was going on. I cryed really hard for about 10-15 mins for no reason. All of a sudden I started to panic. It was so weird. I talked to my doctor today and she actually had the nerve to say it had nothing to do with the pills. By J from Los Angeles, CA on July 24, 2006 | Reply | TrinessaOther than bloating, breast pain, and an overall blah feeling, Trinessa has not been a problem. I've been reading alot about it on other review sites and Trinessa gets really bad reviews, however, I came across some bad reviews for Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I'm sure everyone reacts and is affected differently. By leeann from Texas on September 16, 2006 | Reply | Trinessa????Hi, I have been experiencing severe headaches for about 6 months!! Migraines have always been apart of my life, but these are different. I wake up with them every morning and go to bed with them every night. I have been to so many doctors-GP, neuro, allergist, etc. I am on so many different drugs it is scary and nothing is working. I am beginning to have anxiety attacks and depression as a result. Someone mentioned to me today "what about you birth control?" I have been on Trinessa for about a year or so. I have been reading where severe headaches, depression and mood swings can be a side effect. I am so frustrated. I am wondering if I quit cold turkey if it will solve my problem. I am desperate. Has anyone else had similar symptoms? By Laurie from Houston, TX on September 17, 2006 | Reply | trinessai switched from the depo to trinessa, because my bf was worried about health risks. i have been on trinessa for 2 weeks, and i missed one pill and started bleeding heavilly. i also have had cramping so band i vomit. i have had mood swings this whole month. i do not recoment trinessa! ortho tricycling has worked for me. and using the generic brand has well gotten me really sick! i feel like i have pms everyday! and i feel depressed now and cant seem to stop crying By betsy from west bend, wi on September 23, 2006 | Reply | is trinessa less effective?can you get pregnant from trinessa easier than ortho tri cyclen lo? i have been feeling like crap all last week and this week....bad headaches, stomache aches, loss of appetite, sore breasts.....i didnt know if i was pregnant or not....are you supposed to start your period on the green pills or the blue ones b 4 your green? jw, bc i couldve sworn i started on the blue ones with ortho lo, but i havent started yet and my boyfriend and i only use my pill as a prevention, and he doesnt always pull out so i dont know if i could possibly be pregnant or if it is just side effects....when i got my first pap smear the doc asked me if i had sex and i said yes and she told me that one brand was less effective so she put me on this, then i asked my other doc to switch me a month ago and she put me on the trinessa, no questions asked thank you kasey By kasey from waverly, michigan on March 05, 2007 | Reply | Booo Trinessa! If you have been on Ortho and you are about to switch to Trinessa DO NOT DO IT!!!! I have been on Ortho since I was 16 and I am now 23. About a month ago I moved and had to get a new doctor. She switched me to Trinessa, without consulting me. Now I've had my period for 2 weeks when it's normally 5 days, I'm extremely moody and I have broken out so badly all over my face and body. This is very hard for me because I am normally such a stable person with no acne. Trust me, you don't want to do this! I'm switching back to Orthotricyclen, I want my life back! By leah from Fargo, ND on August 28, 2007 | Reply | TrinessaI have been on trinessa for almost 6 months, its the worst pill ever!! i have been on at least 7 different kinds of birthcontrol pills and i think trinessa was the worst of them all! It gave me horrible mood swings and i would cry for no reason at all. Also, dont miss any of your pills otherwise you will bleed, at least that is what has been happening to me! Everyone is different so maybe this pill will work for others. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone!!! By Lindsay from columbus, ga on September 17, 2007 | Reply | InformativeI have been on lutera birth control for a few months now, and have been having extremely terrible breakouts and depression symptoms since I started. I called my doctor and had her switch me to ortho tricylclen, which seems to be the easiest and best birth control out there and would most likely clear up my skin again. When I got to the pharmacy she handed me tri-nessa. I told her it was not the brand prescribed to me, but she said that it was the generic version and worked exactly the same. I decided to do some research on ortho tricyclen vs. trinessa and found literally THOUSANDS of women with thousands of complaints that are all similar to each other. It is clear to me that trinessa is NOT exactly the same as tricyclen at all, and seems to cause terrible cramps, depression, acne, and even about more than a hundred complaints of users getting pregnant while using the pill flawlessly. Trinessa was also recalled last year for faulty packaging. I dont know about you, but I will take no chances with my body. I am extremely happy that I did the research before I made the mistake of taking something that would undoubtedly make my symptoms worse. I called the pharmacy and told them I would rather pay full price than take something that was not prescribed to me. I urge everyone else to do the same. I also urge the pharmacies not to simply give people the generic brand without first asking them if they would be willing to pay more for something safer. I know I would. By Kathleen on October 11, 2007 | Reply | I guessAfter reading the posts All I can say this is really the case of "your mileage may very". Its hard to get a straight answer for side effects on a prescription drug since everyone is different. As always on BC, though, one of the things to expect when you change your script is that your body may take a few cycles to adjust. By Dawn on March 28, 2008 | Reply | unwanted pregnancyhi casey my daughter was on otc lo for 4 yrs the ins. said they would not pay any longer so she got the generic brand. She has been on them 2 mnths. We just found out she is pregnant. She is 22 but its still a bitter pill to swallow. She knew to use a condom for the 1st month after the change. I hope you aren't pregnant.
