persistent coughBy Angel Cordova from Bacolod, Philippines on August 27, 2011 Category: Losartan potassium I have a persistent cough for 5 months now. I sought the help of a pulmonologist, had X-rays twice the results were essentially normal chest xray and a tuberculin test which was read as positive by my doctor. Generally, I am aware that Filipinos are positive to mantoux test but I nevertheless, agreed that I am Tb positive because of my persistent cough. After a month of anti-tb medications, my cough still persists, my doctor then prescribed diflucan 150 thinking that I might have a fungal infection aside from tb. i just had 2 caps of diflucan but I now suspect that losartan is the culprit since I am taking it for more than a year now. I came across its adverse effect as I searched for the answer of my persistent cough. Is my suspicion right? I am considering shifting to other antihypertensive medicines to rule out losartan as cause of my cough or at least prevent further aggravation. I failed to inform my doctor regarding this medication coz I just came across about persistent cough as its side effect. Please shed some enlightenment regarding my dilemma. Thank you & more power. |
