mometasone creamBy albullochi from ARAB GULF on March 18, 2011 Category: MOMETASONE FUROATE (Topical) (Cream Dear doctor, can the mometasone furate cream used for vagainal itching to apply locally not as vaginal cream? |
No! You Should Not Apply Mometasone For Vaginal ItchingAlthough, Mometasone is usually prescribed for itching, redness, and swelling there are a couple of reasons why I would not recommend it be applied for vaginal itching. For one, the risk out-weights the benefit. The side effects of Mometasone are painful, red, pus filled blisters in hair follicles, severe burning and continued itching of the skin, and thinning of the skin with easy bruising. This is not the kinda of effect you want to take a chance on, in that area, especially. Secondly, I highly recommend you seek your Healthcare Provider for the exact cause of your itching. Much of vaginal itching symptoms results from fungal infections. Mometasone is not an anti-fungal cream. Therefore, it will not be effective in stopping the itching, if the itching is caused by a vaginal infection. It will likely worsen the infection. If itching is caused by irritation, Mometasone will not alleviate your symptoms either and may increase the chance for severe effects. In this matter, you should eliminate the source of irritation.
