Folic acid react with breast milk? if yes. Please descripe.

Thank you.

Folic Acid Is A Natural Supplement And Not Studied

Folic Acid, just as many medications, are poorly studied in women and therefore, its use is not established during pregnancy and breast milk. We do know, however, that spontaneous abortion, abruption placentae, and congenital malformations (eg, neural tube defect) has occured secondary to maternal deficiency in folate status.

Observational and controlled trials have shown neural tube defects to be reduced by 80% or more when folic acid supplementation is started before conception. This is not a direct implication of it safty in breast milk, but it does give you something to go on.

Hope this answers your question!
