Use of Kenalog-40 and Vitiligo

My 12 year old son was diagnosed with Vitiligo, and the Dermatologist gave him a shot of Kenalog-40...Why?  He also prescribed Clobetasol 45/LCDO.9 to apply at night.  If this does not help, he would give him phototherapy tratment every other day.  I am puzzled by this diagnostic because his white spots under and around his armpits, neck and the tiny white round spots on his legs and feet are not like all the pictures I have seen from Vitiligo patients.  I thought it was a type of fungus.  I am confused.  Thanks for your help.

MY MOM DISCOVERED VITILIGO ON MY LEGS WHEN I WAS THE SAME AGE OF YOUR DAUGHTER AND I STARTED A TREATMENT WITH SHOTS OF KENALOG. THE DOCTOR USED TO GIVE 14 SHOTS ON EACH LEG EVERY WEEK. IT WAS A HARD AND SUFFERING TREATMENT BUT I WORKED, NOW I AM 36 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE NOTHING ON MY LEGS.

GOOD LUCK!
