Weaning off of this drug, can it cause headaches?

My 13 year old son has been on Polyethylene Glycol for 2 months. He started at 10.5 grams and has been dropping his doses by a couple of grams each week. We are at 4 grams and he is still having a movement once or twice a day which is great, but for the last 2 weeks he has been suffering from headaches. Could the weaning process cause this affect at all?
