levoxyl

I was diagnosed with hypothroidism and was given levoxyl for treatment.  Before treatment my legs and ankles were swollen with a red rash.   Thinking I had erethema the doctor prescribed a steriod topical ointment.  It relieves the tightness and itching.  However, I still have the swollen legs and ankles and it seems to get worse each day.   My doctor told me it would take at least six weeks to notice a change.  I am on my third week, nothing has changed.  My weight continues to increase.  My question is:  Will the medication improve my skin condition and the swelling in my legs and will I eventually loose my weight gain?
