Will it mess me up if I've been chewing it rather than swallowing it?

I've been taking sprintec but no one told me how to use it so I've been chewing it. I really would like to know how this will change the effectiveness of the birth control. I really don't want to get pregnant because i was chewing it instead of swallowing it.
