Stopping fluoxetine

I would like to stop taking this drug. I have been taking it for 8 months at a dosage of 10mg. I have gained 10 pounds and I have always been very physically active and workout 5 days a week for 1 1/2 hours. I watch my diet closely so I believe this drug is causing my weight gain and it is very upsetting to me. I have a small frame and 10 pounds is a lot of extra weight for me. Could you please tell me the proper way to discontinue this drug or if it is safe to just stop all at once?
