Serious Side Effects While Taking Trinessa

I had serious side effects while taking Trinessa. I am concerned doctors are prescribing this medication in place of Ortho-Tricyclein. If Ortho-T has worked for you, why mess up a good thing?

I have taken Ortho-Tricyclein for over seven years and I had no problems with it. My doctor said that our pharmacy does not carry Ortho-T anymore, but they do carry its generic, Trinessa. Regrettably, I agreed to change my pills. That turned out to be one of the worst mistakes of my life!

Extreme Problems - YOU SHOULD READ THIS:

I started Trinessa in August and the first three months were fine. Then I noticed my normally great complexion started to get bumpy around the chin. My esthetician said it was due to my hormones being "out of wack." Soon thereafter, I became tired, but I am a very busy teacher and mom so I attributed it to that. Three and a half months after starting the pill I began having periods every two weeks (<u>I never missed a single dosage and have never had these problems during the seven years of taking Ortho-T).</u> My normally patient and easy-going personality started to change and I became irritable and started snapping at my kids. Thanksgiving came up and then Xmas and I was too busy to reflect on what was happening to my body. After the holidays, six months after starting the pill, I had a kind of breakdown. It was a nightmare! I couldn't stop crying. I cried for two days straight over nothing. I found the only way to stop was to clean. I became obsessed with cleaning. I made another appointment with my doctor that week and she immediately took me off Trinessa. After being an emotional wreck for four days, I am somewhat back to my rational, old self; however, I still have great difficulty concentrating, remembering things, and I'm tired all the time. At least I no longer feel like I need a straight-jacket!

Speaking as a highly educated mom:

*If your birth-control pills are working fine for you, why change? I could be a disaster!

*Listen to what your body is telling you!!!
