Chlorpheniramine maleate dosage during pregnancy

HI,Am 35 weeks pregnant and have developed a rash on my abdomen stretch marks and my thighs. My doctor has prescribed "chlorohistol" Chlorpheniramine maleate 4mg since the rash is very itchy. Dosage is for 5 days (twice a day)Otherwise i have no complications and this seems to be a normal pregnancy so far...my main concern is whether these tablets will affect my baby since the doctor said i would experience drowsiness on taking them.I also need to know, if i do avoid taking the tablets is there a chance for the rash to spread further and are there other alternatives for relieving the itchiness.

Please advice,

I am suffering the same simptoms you've been describing..I'm at my 38th week to go & the itchiness is becoming more annoying to cope with...

Boiling hot showewrs to "numb" the itchy areas, followerd by almond oil & cocoa butter massages seems to be my only solution so far...

I've been prescribed Chlorohistol as antihistaminic..but very reluctant to take it...

Since you posted your request a year ago..I was wondering how did u managed in the end?

thanks
