Child prescribed the wrong dose of PrednisoloneBy Donald J. Weathersbee from Liberty,sc on September 15, 2006 Category: Prednisolone Hello, My grandson when he was about 6 years old, he is 7 now, was prescibed Prednisolone. The pharmacy when filling the presciption gave a higher dose(90mg) in the liquid then the doctor prescibed(15mg). My questions is, has there ever been a study on long term effects of a higher dose then prescibed by the doctor? This happen when he was in GA. visiting his mother. When he got back home to SC we noticed he was hungry all the time and was just not acting right. We took him to his regular pediatrician. And she had him rushed to the hosiptal. While in the hospital, they started bringing him down slowly off the Prednisolone. I hope this is enough information for you, as you can imagine we are very worried about our grandson. He is seems to be doing ok now, but, the long term effects has us worried. Thank you, Donald J.
