chlorpromazine to relieve symptoms of withdrawal from 2 weeks on Lithium

A lady rang me today to say she was prescribed chlorpromazine intended as a help to soften withdrawal effect from lithium that she has been taking for three weeks. She had had a terribly difficult time coming off diazepam and lithium was prescribed in turn to combat the unpleasant side effects.

There are concerns on her part, given that she wants to be off all medication as soon as possible. I feel she is capable of using stress management methods such as - hypnosis, eft, etc Her motivation and ability to reason and practice relaxation techniques are high.

Is it okay to take 75mg chlorpromazine (started two days ago) for just a short until the lithium is stopped - in three days time. Having taken chlorpromazine for two days her senses are dulled, speech beginning to slur and yes, the headaches she had have softened. When could she stop chlorpromazine?

When she stops can this be immediate or should she wean off by taking less over a few days?

your help greatly appreciated.

kind regards
