MS Contin and breastfeedingBy angela from united states on July 24, 2006 Category: MS Contin (Oral) I am a breastfeeding mother of a six month old infant. Due to further injury to my back and the possibility of a third back surgery, my doctor has asked me to switch from Vicodin ES to Morphine Sulfate. Apparently it is a slow acting, long acting medication and he has prescribed 30mg tablets to be taken twice a day-1 to 2 tablets every 12 hours. I am very concerned about breastfeeding while taking such a strong medication and have not began taking it because I am unsure about the risks to my daughter. Is this safe and what kind of side effects occur if it is? I am also concerned that a time released tablet would affect driving an automobile and am unclear as to recommendations for taking a medication like this even if for a short time until surgery is scheduled. |
