Dosage of lamotrigine

I suffer with rapid cycling bipolar disorder which was bought on following the death of my son in September 2004. I am taking lamotrigine 150mg daily which have helped slightly but I am still experiencing daily/weekly mood swings, some of which are very severe. I would like to know if my dosage should be upped because I have been told that this is the highest dose my psychiatrist will prescribe.
