hormone replacement - drug differences

By lauri from Philadelphia, PA on June 09, 2006

My Doctor prescribed Syntest HS for hormone replacement therapy after surgery. My insurance company insisted that I receive Methyltes/EE instead. What (if any) are the differences? Is there a difference in the amounts of estrogen and testosterone?

Due to cost of Avalide, my doctor switched me to Methylete/ee, which I can purchase at Wal-Mart for $10.00 or less.

I was told this medicine does not have testosterone in it.

This is the result of downsizng from my employment after 29+ years of service in the textile industry. Thanks NAFTA & our US Government!!

Hope this helps.
