Why is kenalog 40 so hard to get today for allergies

Category: Kenalog-40 (Injection)

I'm 53 yrs. old and up until the mid 1980's was able to get Kenalog 40 injections with no problems whatsoever for hayfever. I only needed 1&1/2 CC's in the spring to get me through the worst of it. Todays younger doctors won't prescribe it for me and tell me it's dangerous. I've never had any side effects and it's the only thing that gives me total relief from my allergies. When I ask for kenalog 40 A typical response from todays doctor is a chuckle and "they don't teach that at medical school." I still get it but have travel to Mexico.

kenalog for hayfever

Hi Gary,

Yes we know the feeling our doctor is reluctant to give kenalog injection for hayfever too. they say it is dangerous and discontinued. we both had it every year and it is fantastic.Wish we could go to Mexico! Audrey

This can be a dangerous drug for some

This can be a dangerous drug if given to someone that has allergic reaction to steriod.

I know because it happened to me. I had this injected into the inside of my nose by my doctor as a temporary relief to my long term nasal allergy.

My body reacted within a few minutes after the injections (one shot in each nostril).
It started with itching all over my face, then numbness in my limbs, difficulty with breathing, and vomiting.

Needless to say I ended up in ER for treatment to counter this drug.
