Soma Compound (Oral) is used for the Treatment
Aspirin (AS-pir-in), Carisoprodol (kar-eye-soe-PROE-dole) Treats muscle spasms, pain, and stiffness.
When To Not Use Soma Compound (Oral)
You should not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to carisoprodol, meprobamate (Miltown®, Equagesic®), or aspirin. You should not use if you have bleeding disorders, porphyria, or active ulcers. This compound should not be given to children or teenagers with fever or flu symptoms unless approved by a physician.
How Should You Use Soma Compound (Oral)
Tablet
- Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to take and how often.
- You may take your medicine with food or milk to avoid stomach upset. If a dose is missed:
- Take your medicine as soon as you remember that you have missed your dose.
- If it is nearly time for your next dose, wait until then to take the medicine and skip the missed dose.
- You should not use two doses at the same time.

What To Avoid While Using Soma Compound (Oral)
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking blood-thinners (Coumadin®) or MAO inhibitors such as Nardil®, Marplan®, or Parnate® while taking this medicine.
- Avoid drinking alcohol.
- Avoid taking medicines that may make you sleepy such as tranquilizers, sleeping pills, cold and allergy medicines, or narcotic pain-killers.
Soma Compound (Oral) Warnings
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you have liver or kidney disease.
- Carisoprodol may make you drowsy. Be careful while driving a car or operating machinery.
- To avoid dizziness from this medicine, stand up slowly from a lying or sitting position.
Soma Compound (Oral) Side Effects
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Severe drowsiness
- Skin rash , hives, itching, or swelling
- Blood in the stool or bloody vomit
- Ringing in the ears
- Slow heartbeat
- Trouble breathing If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
- Drowsiness
- Dizziness, especially when standing up
- Nausea or vomiting
- Stomach cramps
- Restlessness
