I have had Proctofoam HC prescribed to me twice in 3 years and it tends to work well. The major complaint I have is that the small aerosol container is difficult to use. I see that nothing has changed in 3 years with the design. Shaking the canister for 5-10 seconds and attempting to fill up the applicator with only "3-4 bursts" is a joke. It takes at least 6+ 2-4 second bursts and then waiting in between to fill the applicator. Foam ends up on the inside of the canister as well.

They say this is a 10 day supply, but realistically it will last at most 6 days following the directions. The aerosol can deflates too quickly, like a flat whipped cream canister. Proctofoam is a good product, but the design must be fixed. It is far too complicated and a hassle to continue in its present design state, and you can easily run out of it before your hemmorhoids are cleared up.

As a side note, it is critical that you take a multi-faceted approach to treating hemmorhoids and do it immediately. Do not wait. Eat whole grains, salads, no alcohol, lower your sugar intake, avoid processed foods, and take 3 sitz baths a day along with this medication. You will heal much, much quicker and with less pain.

This medication is the only thing that works for me.
I don't know why there are two directions for it. One for external and one for internal. The external directions says not to aplly it, internally. ???
The fill system doesn't work very well. Most of the foam ends up under the cap and not in the applicator.
