Release date of Plaquenil

Plaquenil has been suggested by my doctor. I have ANA and slightly elevated inflamation levels. More tests are being done. How long has Plaquenil been on the market? Are there studies showing it effectiveness, pros and cons?

This drug is one that I have taken for 22 years already. Now I am getting hives from it and I wonder if they are giving me generic instead. I can't take Benedryl because it puts me right to sleep. The over the counter Loratadine does not make me tired though and seems to work. I am even having some ringing in my ears. It seems to be a new side effect as well. I might have to change pills or quit taking this, but I don't really want to do that if I can help it. I am just now trying to stop taking the drug prednisone.

Do not take Bactrim if you are taking this medicine. It made me almost lose my life. I had a really bad flare up and it took me about a month to get better. Please make sure you check this out before taking anything at the same time.
