After being diagnosed with Interstitial cystitis and pelvic floor dysfunction I was given this medication. I never realized that it was possible for me to be without pain with my pelvic disorders. If this medication is taken correctly, it can work wonders. It gave me back my life.

While I was in the Army, I fell over 40 ft during rock climbing. I did serious damage to my body. I fractured my left hip, shattered my left wrist, ulna and radius, dislocated my hand, and broke my T11/T12. As you can probably guess, I struggled severely with the pain that resulted from these accidents. To manage the pain, I took Lortab, but this made me very depressed. I couldn't eat, I cried all the time, I had low self esteem, you name it. The drug did work at first, but eventually Lortab stopped working. Luckily, my doctor gave me Oxycodone 5mg Acetamenophine 325 APAP. I take one pill every 6 hours. The oxycodone works amazingly, I can actually sleep pain free, and I can even do activities like working and playing. However, the withdrawal effects can be horrible if you run out of pills early - the pain is back and perhaps worse, I feel depressed, I can't sleep, I have no energy. There are some side effects to this drug, namely hot flashes. I take this pill with tea, warm water, or any warm drink. Don't take it with soda, however, as the carbonation and the drug have a bad interaction, causing heart burn and acid reflux. After taking this drug for a year, my body has gotten used to it, so I need to take more of the drug to get the same effect. This doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon, so I may have to give up the drugs altogether and switch to pain management and pain therapy instead. This will help me get rid of all the drugs and get rid of the dependency. I can't deal with taking pills all the time, everytime, so something will have to change. If you want to talk about my experiences, share yours, or just ask questions, let me know by emailing me at xiaobarbar@yahoo.com or gwatterman@cox.net.
