Noritate (Topical) is used for the Treatment

Metronidazole (me-troe-NI-da-zole) Treats skin redness and pimples caused by a skin condition called rosacea (adult acne, or acne rosacea).

When To Not Use Noritate (Topical)

You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to metronidazole.

How Should You Use Noritate (Topical)

Cream, Gel/Jelly

  • Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use and how often. Keep using the medicine for as long as your doctor tells you to.
  • Use this medicine on your skin only.
  • You should not use the medicine in or near your eyes. The medicine may make your eyes water if it is put on areas around your eyes. If you do get the medicine in your eyes, rinse them well with cool water. Tell your doctor if redness or eye pain does not go away.
  • Wash the area to be treated with a mild soap. Rinse the area well, and dry gently. Put a thin layer of the medicine over the entire affected area, and rub it in gently.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water after putting on the medicine.
  • If a dose is missed:
  • Use the cream or gel as soon as possible, unless it is almost time for your next dose.
  • Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next regular dose.
  • Do not put on two doses (twice the regular amount) at one time.

Proper Noritate (Topical) Storage

Store Noritate (Topical) at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture unless otherwise stated by manufacturer's instructions or labelling. Keep Noritate (Topical) and all medications out of the reach of children.

What To Avoid While Using Noritate (Topical)

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

  • Talk with your doctor before using other medicated creams or ointments on the same areas that you are using metronidazole.

Noritate (Topical) Warnings

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
  • If your skin problems do not get better after using this medicine for a few weeks or if they get worse after a few days, tell your doctor.
  • You can use cosmetics or make-up while using this medicine. However, some cosmetics may make your skin problems worse. If you have questions about this, talk with your doctor.

Noritate (Topical) Side Effects

If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:

  • Mild stinging or burning where the medicine is put on your skin
  • Dry skin
  • Watering eyes
  • More skin redness or irritation than before you started using the medicine
  • Metallic taste in your mouth
  • Tingling or numbness in your feet or hands
  • Nausea
