My 98-year-old mother got very ill after taking the pill for approximately 4 days. She threw up and got very weak and tired. She stopped the pills immediately and is taking pantropazole. We are hoping for the best.

My doctor prescribed Nexium 40 mg twice a day. I have been taking it for 2 months now. So far I am still experiencing acid refux. I have propped myself up on 4 or 5 pillows, eaten bland foods, not eaten 3 to 4 hours before bedtime, and I still have pain. For a few hours each day I also have loss of taste. This must be a side effect from the Nexium. I am not sure if the manufacturers are aware of this problem. I will continue to take this product for about 2 more months. If there is no relief I will try someething else.
