Lamictal CD (Oral) is used for the Treatment
Lamotrigine (la-MOE-tri-jeen) Treats certain types of seizures.
When To Not Use Lamictal CD (Oral)
You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to lamotrigine.
How Should You Use Lamictal CD (Oral)
Tablet, Chewable Tablet
- Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to take and how often. Do not take more medicine or take it more often than your doctor tells you to.
- You may take this medicine with or without food.
- Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, break, or chew it.
- The chewable tablet may be swallowed whole or chewed and taken with a small amount of water or diluted fruit juice. You may also dissolve the chewable tablet in a teaspoon of water or fruit juice and swallow the mixture after 1 minute. If a dose is missed:
- If you miss a dose or forget to take your medicine, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to take the medicine and skip the missed dose.
- Do not use extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Store Lamictal CD (Oral) at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture unless otherwise stated by manufacturer's instructions or labelling. Keep Lamictal CD (Oral) and all medications out of the reach of children.
What To Avoid While Using Lamictal CD (Oral)
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking any other medicine to control seizures such as carbamazepine (Tegretol®), Dilantin®, valproic acid (Depakene®), divalproex (Depakote®), primidone (Mysoline®), or phenobarbital.
Lamictal CD (Oral) Warnings
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have liver, heart, or kidney disease.
- This medicine may make you dizzy or drowsy. Avoid driving, using machines, or doing anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert.
- Do not stop using this medicine suddenly without asking your doctor. You may need to slowly decrease your dose before stopping it completely.
- If you have a skin rash while using this medicine, call your doctor right away. Sometimes a rash is a sign of a serious drug reaction.
- Tell your doctor if this medicine does not control your seizures or if you have more seizures than before you started the medicine.
Lamictal CD (Oral) Side Effects
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in face or hands, swelling or tingling in the mouth or throat, tightness in chest, trouble breathing
- Blurred or double vision
- Extreme weakness or fainting
- Fever, swollen glands If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
- Headache
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset
- Problems with coordination
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Sore throat
