When To Not Use ITRACONAZOLE (Injection) (Kit)
You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to itraconazole or any other antifungal medicines such as fluconazole or ketoconazole. You should not use itraconazole while you are also taking astemizole (Hismanal®), atorvastatin (Lipitor®), cerivastatin (Baycol®), cisapride (Propulsid®), fluvastatin (Lescol®), lovastatin (Mevacor®), midazolam (Versed®), pimozide (Orap®), pravastatin (Pravachol®), quinidine (Cardioquin®), simvastatin (Zocor®), or triazolam (Halcion®).
How Should You Use ITRACONAZOLE (Injection) (Kit)
Injectable, Solution
- Your doctor will prescribe your exact dose and tell you how often it should be given.
- An intravenous (in-tra-VEEN-us) or IV injection is given through a tube put in one of your veins, usually in your arm, wrist, hand, or sometimes in your chest.
- A nurse or other caregiver trained to give IV medicine will give your treatment.
- Sometimes you or a family member can be taught to give your medicine at home. Make sure you understand all instructions before giving yourself an injection. If a dose is missed:
- Use your medicine as soon as possible, unless it is almost time for your next dose.
- Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next regular dose.
- Do not double your dose.
- If you miss more than one dose, call your doctor for instructions.

What To Avoid While Using ITRACONAZOLE (Injection) (Kit)
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
- Certain drugs should not be used while using itraconazole. Using these drugs can cause very serious medical problems, heart problems, or even death.
- Make sure your doctor knows about all other medicines you are taking.
ITRACONAZOLE (Injection) (Kit) Warnings
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have liver disease, kidney disease, or other medical problems before you receive this medicine.
- Rarely, this medicine may cause severe liver problems. Stop taking this medicine and call your doctor right away if you have yellow skin or eyes, dark-colored urine, pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, or pain in the upper stomach. Tell your doctor if you have ever had liver problems caused by other medicines.

Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Skin rash, itching, or hives
- Swelling of your mouth, tongue, lips, or around your eyes
- Tenderness or pain on your right upper stomach
- Wheezing or trouble breathing
- Yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, extreme tiredness If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
- Diarrhea
- Upset stomach
