Hydrocodone (hye-droe-KOE-done), Ibuprofen (eye-byoo-PROE-fen) Used for short periods of time to relieve moderate to severe pain.

When To Not Use IBUPROFEN/HYDROCODONE (Oral) (Tablet)

You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to hydrocodone, ibuprofen, aspirin, or to anti-inflammatory medicines such as Naprosyn®, Aleve®, Clinoril®, Daypro®, Indocin®, Relafen®, or Orudis®. The reaction may have included wheezing or trouble breathing, hives, rash, or swelling in the face.

How Should You Use IBUPROFEN/HYDROCODONE (Oral) (Tablet)

Tablet

  • Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use and how often. Do not use more medicine or use it more often than your doctor tells you to.
  • This medicine should not be used for longer than 10 days, unless your doctor has ordered it.
  • If a dose is missed:
  • This medicine is usually used as needed to relieve pain. It is not used on a regular schedule.
  • Do not use two doses at the same time.

What To Avoid While Using IBUPROFEN/HYDROCODONE (Oral) (Tablet)

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

  • Make sure your doctor knows if you are using medicine to treat high blood pressure or depression or if you use lithium, methotrexate, furosemide (Lasix®), or a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin®).
  • Tell your doctor if you are using medicines that could make you drowsy such as sleeping pills, some cold or allergy medicine, tranquilizers, strong pain killers, or muscle relaxers.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol while using this medicine. You may get too drowsy or sedated if you drink alcohol or use medicines that cause drowsiness.
  • Drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco while using this medicine may increase the risk of ulcers or stomach bleeding.

IBUPROFEN/HYDROCODONE (Oral) (Tablet) Warnings

  • Talk with your doctor before using this medicine if you have a stomach ulcer, asthma, heart, liver, lung, or kidney disease, an overactive thyroid, an enlarged prostate, or Addison's disease.
  • If you are pregnant or breast feeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine. You should not use this medicine during the last 3 months of pregnancy.
  • This medicine may make you dizzy or drowsy. Avoid driving or using machinery until you know how the medicine will affect you.
  • This medicine may be habit forming. You should not use more of it or use it more often than your doctor ordered.
  • Ulcers and stomach bleeding are sometimes caused by this medicine. These problems can happen without warning signs. Tell your doctor if you have severe stomach pain or bloody vomit or bowel movements while using this medicine.

IBUPROFEN/HYDROCODONE (Oral) (Tablet) Side Effects

Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Fast, or irregular heartbeat
  • Hives, rash or intense itching
  • Yellowing of your skin or eyes
  • Bloody vomit or vomit that looks like coffee grounds
  • Bloody or black tarry bowel movements
  • Unusual bruising or bleeding
  • If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
  • Headache
  • Drowsiness or dizziness
  • Nervousness or trouble sleeping
  • Swelling or puffiness in your ankles or feet
  • Nausea
  • Constipation
  • Blurred vision
