Dynapen (Oral) is used for the Treatment
Dicloxacillin Sodium (dye-klox-a-SIL-in SOE-dee-um) Treat infections. Belong to a class of drugs called penicillin antibiotics.
When To Not Use Dynapen (Oral)
You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to any type of penicillin. Tell your doctor about any allergies that you have.
How Should You Use Dynapen (Oral)
Capsule, Liquid
- Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to use and how often. Do not use more medicine or use it more often than your doctor tells you to.
- This medicine is best taken on an empty stomach, 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. Take with a full glass of water.
- Keep using this medicine for the full treatment time, even if you feel better after the first few doses. Your infection may not clear up if you stop using the medicine too soon.
- Shake the oral liquid well before using. Measure the oral liquid medicine with a marked measuring spoon, oral syringe, or medicine cup. If a dose is missed:
- Take the missed dose as soon as possible.
- Take the rest of the doses for the day at regularly spaced times.
- Do not take two doses at the same time.

Store Dynapen (Oral) at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture unless otherwise stated by manufacturer's instructions or labelling. Keep Dynapen (Oral) and all medications out of the reach of children.
What To Avoid While Using Dynapen (Oral)
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are using a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin®) or any other antibiotic (such as gentamicin, tobramycin, Garamycin®.
- Birth control pills may not work while you are using dicloxacillin. To keep from getting pregnant, use another form of birth control. Other forms include condoms, a diaphragm, or contraceptive foam or jelly.
Dynapen (Oral) Warnings
- If you are pregnant or breast feeding, talk with your doctor before taking this medicine.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you have ever had an allergic reaction to any cephalosporin antibiotic such as Keflex® or Ceclor® before you take this medicine.
Dynapen (Oral) Side Effects
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing.
- Shortness of breath or trouble breathing
- Severe diarrhea (watery, possibly with blood) If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
- Nausea or vomiting
- Vaginal itching or discharge
