Ditropan (Oral) is used for the Treatment
Oxybutynin (ox-i-BYOO-ti-nin) Helps you control your urine and keeps you from having to urinate too often. Also treats bladder spasms.
When To Not Use Ditropan (Oral)
You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to oxybutynin.
How Should You Use Ditropan (Oral)
Liquid, Tablet, Long Acting Tablet
- Your doctor will tell you how much to take and how often.
- Measure the oral liquid medicine with a marked measuring spoon or medicine cup.
- Swallow the extended-release tablet whole. Do not crush, break, or chew it.
- Take this medicine on an empty stomach. If it upsets your stomach, it may be taken with food. If a dose is missed:
- Take the missed dose as soon as possible.
- Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next regular dose.
- You should not use two doses at the same time.

What To Avoid While Using Ditropan (Oral)

- Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking any medicine that makes you sleepy such as sleeping pills, tranquilizers, cold and allergy medicine, or narcotic pain killers.

- Talk with your doctor before taking this medicine if you have bowel or stomach problems, severe bleeding, prostate problems, glaucoma, heart, liver, or kidney disease, or any other medical problems.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
- This medicine may cause drowsiness. Be careful while driving a car, using machinery, or doing dangerous jobs.
- This medicine may make you sweat less and cause your body to get too hot. Be careful in hot weather, when you are exercising, or if using a sauna or whirlpool.
Ditropan (Oral) Side Effects
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Skin rash, hives and itching
- Fast or irregular heartbeat
- Confusion
- Seeing or hearing unusual things If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
- Dry mouth
- Constipation
- Drowsiness
- Blurred vision
- Nausea or vomiting
- Sensitivity of eyes to light
