Depakote ER Oral’s side effects had a major impact on my day to day life. This medication increased my appetite and as a result, I gained over 40 lbs. My libido had depleted, so sexual aspects of my life were affected. I was irritable, and this medication made me extremely tired. I was still getting migraines. I requested my lab work be sent to my primary doctor. I was told my liver profile was comparable to that of someone who was going to have liver failure. My primary doctor insisted that I stop taking this medication. I went back to the specialist and he felt that my primary doctor and I were challenging his knowledge. Yet, he agreed to take me off the medication. Unfortunately, there was no other replacement medication. In closing, I don’t feel that this medicine was worth the serious impact it had on my life. In addition to the problems listed, the cost of the medication was an issue as well.

I have been on this medication after coming off of Topamax. I am taking a dose of 500mg, and so far I feel pressure in my head, but not the vomiting or full-on migraines. I also take other medication for my migraines.

I have been taking Depakote Oral for a month now. I have been taking Lithium for 8 months as well. Depakote has helped curb my spending sprees and nervousness. With Lithium, I was still nervous. However, Depakote has surely helped with both. I was a little irritable in the beginning of my medicine regiment, but it has since become better. It also helps with the headaches that I was having.
