Carac (Topical) is used for the Treatment

Fluorouracil (flure-oh-YOOR-a-sil) Treats solar keratoses (red wart-like growth on the skin), skin cancer, and tumors on the face.

When To Not Use Carac (Topical)

You should not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to fluorouracil.

How Should You Use Carac (Topical)

Cream, Liquid

  • Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to take and how often.
  • Use this medicine only on the skin. Do not get this medicine in your eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Wear medical gloves when putting this medicine on.
  • Wash the skin to be treated with soap and water before putting this medicine on. Also wash your hands before and after using this medicine.
  • Use enough cream or solution to cover the area of skin you are treating.
  • Do not put a bandage over the area unless your doctor has told you to.
  • You should not use fluorouracil more often or for longer periods than ordered by your doctor.
  • If a dose is missed:
  • Use your medicine as soon as you remember that you have missed your dose.
  • If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to use the medicine and skip the missed dose.
  • Do not put on two doses at one time.

Proper Carac (Topical) Storage

Store Carac (Topical) at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture unless otherwise stated by manufacturer's instructions or labelling. Keep Carac (Topical) and all medications out of the reach of children.

What To Avoid While Using Carac (Topical)

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

  • Do not mix fluorouracil with other skin lotions or ointments unless your doctor has told you to.

Carac (Topical) Warnings

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
  • Let your doctor know about any other medical problems you have.
  • If your doctor tells you to use a bandage, use a gauze bandage with tape, rather than a plastic bandage that is more likely to cause skin irritation.
  • Avoid being in sunlight while using this medicine.
