Just tried Capzasin-HP on my right wrist area - still throbs occasionally from a fracture a couple years ago! The cream is so uncomfortable, and burning! I am going to try and return the almost full tube back to Wal-Mart.

I believe Aspercreme and Myoflex are creams that are also for analgesic pain relief, and odor free.

OMG...the burning is awful. This is not a product that should be use for joint pain. The skin burn does not help my arthritis. I am not sure what the theory is behind this product..but it is not worth the skin burn.

This product is potentially dangerous and doesn't work well, imo. It is chemical induced hotness - not a deep warmth like the old-fashioned smell rubs. Know that this is difficult to wash off. Also, be careful of hot baths after application as well - it seems to irritate the skin even more.

This product is useful but very dangerous. It should not be OTC. I have read the label and used it several times on my arthritic neck and back and, used very carefully, it did provide excellent relief. BUT I rubbed it on my tired, sore feet almost a WEEK ago and I have so much burning and pain that I can barely wear shoes. I expected the burning at first but I have not reapplied the lotion, have washed many times and tried all of the remedies I can find online. My feet are still on fire. God forbid a child would get a hold of this stuff.

Believe it or not my doctor recommended this. Applied to shoulder for rotator cuff pain. Within minutes the skinned turned bright red and burned like crazy. I must have touch my lip with some on my finger...started burning so licked with tongue which started burning. Washed 4 times with soap and cold water and still burned. Then got some cold milk and kept it wet for about 20 minutes before it felt better. Horrible stuff...in the trash it went! Have no idea if it worked for the pain but if distraction is its angle, then it worked.

I put this on the bottom of my left foot and did not feel anything. I then put some on my hands for minor arthritis pain at about 11pm. I went to bed at about 1am and woke up at 2am with an incredible burning sensation on the backs of my hands and left ear. I washed my ear with soap and cold water and the burning stopped immediately. However, the burning on the back of my hands was excruciating. I tried a multitude of ointments and creams from the medicine cabinet and the kitchen. Finally got a 50% reduction from the burning pain by using "calohist clear" from cvs. Went from feeling like a 3rd degree burn to a 1 st degree burn in ten minutes. They should have used this stuff down in Gitmo to get the terrorists to talk. Who needs water-boarding and psychological warfare with this stuff so readily available... I was tempted to drive myself to the E.R. And ask them to put me in a drug induced coma in the burn unit. I can't believe the amount of burning I experienced from using this stuff. Thank God I did not accidentally get this stuff in my eyes.

This product may work for some, I'm very intelligent and read the label. I applied the thin layer of capsaicin before going to bed around 11:00PM, about 1:00AM I awoke to a burning sensation behind my left knee and on the side of my right knee.I've washed my knee 4× and still have a slight burning sensation. I chose to use this product after using it several years ago and experienced the same thing. I won't ever use it again ...

I put this on my leg last night and woke up this morning with my hand burning like hell. I couldn't figure out why, then I remembered using Capzasin-HP. I had washed my hands with soap and water as directed, but that obviously wasn't enough. I was in so much pain. I rinsed my hand with cold water, applied aloe, ran it under cold water for almost 10 minutes. Then I googled and found out that this product uses hot peppers. I tried all the suggestions: washing with dish liquid (twice), scrubbing with an oil and salt mixture, dabbing with cotton balls soaked with milk (three times), and pouring apple cider vinegar on my hand (three times). I don't know what finally did the trick, but my hand is back to normal, except for smelling like vinegar. I'm throwing this stuff in the trash. Yes, my leg felt better, but I'm not taking a change with it again. I'll use something else.

Would give this product zero stars if I could. I did read the directions yet I am still in intense pain. I didn't get relief but instead intense burning. I tired to immediately wash my legs but to no avail. Now tonight, almost 24 hours after using the cream I still have the burning and my legs are bright red as if I burned them. This because I took a bath tonight. It felt as if someone was holding a curling iron to the entire length of my legs. What a dangerous product.

Absolutely painful! Applied to my foot for foot pain and now my foot is on fire. I've tried aloe vera, milk, vinegar, soap and water and nothing takes away the burning. I guess I don't feel my morton's neuroma any more, because my foot is going to burn and fall off! Very, very painful... and of course my hand is hot and my lip that I must have touched... now they can call me "hot lips"!

Try READING THE LABEL and USING THE PRODUCT AS DIRECTED and maybe you might not have such a horrible experience. When applied properly, Capzasin HD works miracles.

My husband and I have used this product and it works great for us BUT I applied it to a small area on my young adult son's back and within a minute he was in excruciating pain. He described it as being on fire. The only place it was on his skin was the area I applied it, with bare hand. I had absolutely no reaction.

Two days ago I could not walk due to extreme pain and swelling at
base of my big toe, I went for a jog today. The burn was intense
the first two applications and again after I started sweating, while
jogging. I have never used a medication that relieved arthritis
pain so quickly and completely. The burn was intense, but it worked,
invalid to jogging in two days. Probably not the best medicine for
minor discomfort but if your in a bad way Capzasin works quickly.
I wonder if it's this effective for the gout.

This does burn like hell. For me, it doesn't burn right away, the burning starts after a few hours, usually in the middle of the night waking me up. Yes it is REALLY bad, it FEELS like it's burning, BUT it isn't ACTUALLY burning. The skin is not damaged. I am using it for fibromyalgia and arthritis pain. I think the burning is worth it, so if you don't, then clearly this product is not meant for your level of pain.

I have also used this on my neck/behind ears when I felt a migraine coming on and it prevented it turning into a full blown attack.

Do the people who make this product have any morals? To watch my Son go through such pain. He's a Hockey Player and his knees were killing him. I had Capsaicin in the bathroom, forgetting to throw it away first fime I used it and my son got up in such pain (didn't want to bother me sleeping) so read directions and thought OK, this should help. OMG, he waited as long as he could, but had to wake me up. He was in such pain. We went in the bathroom, turned on the light and I had him sit on the toilet seat. When I looked at his knees, I was horrified. They looked like someone took a flame thrower to them or the worst Sunburn I'd ever seen and I've had Sun Poison, so I know what it looks like. He was trying not to scream in pain. I washed his knees off as best I could, then rubbed Noxzema with Eucalyptus in it. I then rinsed washcloths with cold water, rung them out and poured Vinegar on them. I folded them and put 1 on each knee and pushed in a little to get the Vinegar under the skin. Within an hour, he started feeling better. He has to go to work in the morning without having any sleep and still in some pain. I believe Capsaicin (with or without reading every little detail in the instructions should be taken off the market. It's very dangerous and God forbid a child gets seriously hurt from this, or is that what the Company is waiting for. 2 more things I'd like to say. My Grandpa had gotten really bad Poison Ivy. He went in bathroom to put something on it to help. OK, so he wasn't paying attention, but point is he grabbed the Capsaicin my Grandma had and put it all over and without washing his hands first, he peed. After, he cleaned up bathroom and started washing his hands and all of a sudden, not only did his whole body start to feel like it was on fire, but his private parts were like a 5 alarm fire going on. That was very dangerous. And last, when I was helping my Son, I just so happened to get just ever so little at the corner of my eye when I rubbed it. On fire, thought I'd lose my sight. Kept Ice Pack on the rest of the night and thank God, it went away. NOW, CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME ONE GOOD REASON WHY THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE OUT THERE? I REALLY FEEL SOMEONE (ESPECIALLY A CHILD) IS GOING TO SERIOUSLY HURT BY THIS, AND THE COMPANY WON'T CARE. IT'S NOT THERE CHILD. WILL NEVER PURCHASE CAPSAICIN EVER, EVER AGAIN. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND USE ONE OF TWO PRODUCTS I USE THAT HAS NEVER HURT ME OR ANYONE I KNOW. AND THIS IS JUST A HELPFUL TIP. I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE COMPANY. I GO TO PHYSICAL THERAPY 2X A WEEK AND I BOUGHT A BOTTLE OF BIO-FREEZE. WHITE BOTTLE AND GEL COMES OUT A BIT BLUE AND ONCE YOU RUB IT IN, WITHIN 5 MINUTES, I'M FEELING ALOT BETTER. HOPE YOU ALL FEEL BETTER AND HOPE TO GOD CAPSAICIN IS TAKEN OFF MARKET OR AT LEAST STORES CAN STOP BUYING IT TO SELL.

I would love to stay and write a review, but I am currently looking for A LAKE OF BURNING FIRE to see if I can cool my back off. The Warning to not go in the sun should be prominent...yes I know I should have carefully read the label before applying it to my back, but that doesn't help me now...only a nice cold lake of fire will help...good day

Update layed on icepack an hour. So far so good. I could kick myself for not reading the label of a product named after a chili pepper

Well I have read all the reviews about the burning. I tried the 0.025% cream, no burning, not even a tingle zilch! So I asked my doctor for the stronger stuff 0.075 so three times as strong and was told to be careful with it as it is strong stuff. Again, not even a tingle let alone a burning sensation. Can't believe I can't feel anything!

Burned so bad, i would rather deal with the initial pain i was having from a an ear ache that was shooting pain down my shoulder. I finally after an hour of feeling like my akin was going to blister literally, i used some gold bond aloe powder. When i first applied the powder it burned like HELL i thoght the devil was seriously sitting on my shoulder.... But after about 20 minutes after applying the gold bond i could actually lay down. Do not use this product please....i cannot truly begin to describe the pain, and i have a high tolerance for pain but this..... No words for it. But gold bond powder it the one thats says it has aloe in it and its for soothing and calming. White with gold top... And this site should let you rate the product a zero, which is what i would have done had it let me

This is one of the worst things I've ever done was to try this. It should be banned. I put some on my lower legs and thought I had 3rd degree burns. After agonizing a awhile i found this site and washed my legs with Dawn and than rubbed with mayonnaise than rinsed that off and felt immediate relief. After a bit the burning is slightly back but can tolerate. I also put some oatmeal lotion on. What a mess. Could kick myself! I would have given it zero stars but it wouldn't let me.
