I'm allergic to three different classes of antibiotics, so this does not leave me with a lot of options. At this time I have taken Avelox three times. Although it does help, the infection is not always cleared completely. When I first took it, I could not speak clearly and had severe dizzy spells. The feeling was of being in slow motion all the time. However, since my antibiotic options are limited, my doctor told me to get through it. So the next time I took it, I made sure to take it with food and in the evenings instead. This helped and I only had mild dizzy spells that lasted only a few hours. With any drug there can be side effects. However, unless your doctor tells you otherwise, make sure to always take all of your prescription. People stop the antibiotics too soon and there are too many super germs around to take a chance. There have been many calls to take this off the market because of the allergic reaction, which makes me laugh. Penicillin is never called to be taken off the market and yet it does the same thing to me. Different drugs cause different reactions in people. When there are few choices for treatment, it is necessary for many of us to take other antibiotics to help with our severe allergies.

I would not tell people to take this medicine. It can cause a lot of problems with IBS or even give you diarrhea. I have had loss of my appetite, dehydration, and other cramping from it. I almost went to the ER one time. I finally had to quit the medicine.
