Allegra D substitutes
I am wondering if there are OTC substitutes for Allegra-D. My insurance plan does not have Allegra D on it's formulary therefore, I must pay a higher copay each time I fill my prescription.

Allegra-D (Oral) is used for the Treatment
Fexofenadine (fex-oh-FEN-a-deen), Pseudoephedrine (soo-doe-e-FED-rin) Treats hay fever symptoms such as sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itchy throat, and itchy or watery eyes. Belongs to a class of drugs called antihistamines/decongestants.
When To Not Use Allegra-D (Oral)
You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to fexofenadine or pseudoephedrine. Tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to any drug. You should not use this medicine if you have narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary retention, severe hypertension, or severe heart disease. You should not use this medicine if you are using MAO inhibitors (Eldepryl®, Marplan®, Nardil®, Parnate®), or have used an MAO inhibitor within the last 14 days.
How Should You Use Allegra-D (Oral)
Long Acting Tablet
- Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to use and how often. Do not use more medicine or use it more often than your doctor tells you to.
- Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.
- Do not take this medicine with food.
- This medicine is usually given to adults and children 12 years of age and older. If a dose is missed:
- Use your medicine as soon as possible, and wait 12 hours until your next dose.
- Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next regular dose.
- Do not use two doses at the same time.
Proper Allegra-D (Oral) Storage
Store Allegra-D (Oral) at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture unless otherwise stated by manufacturer's instructions or labelling. Keep Allegra-D (Oral) and all medications out of the reach of children.
What To Avoid While Using Allegra-D (Oral)
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
- Make sure your doctor knows about all other medicines you are using, especially erythromycin (E-Mycin®), digoxin (Lanoxin®), ketoconazole (Nizoral®), or medicine for high blood pressure.
- Unless approved by your doctor, you should not use this medicine if you are using other allergy or cold medicines.
Allegra-D (Oral) Warnings
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you have diabetes, glaucoma, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, an overactive thyroid, or trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate.
Allegra-D (Oral) Side Effects
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in face or hands, swelling or tingling in the mouth or throat, tightness in chest, trouble breathing
- Convulsions (seizures)
- Difficulty urinating
- Fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat
- Hallucinations
- Severe nervousness, dizziness, or trouble sleeping If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
- Headache
- Nausea or upset stomach
