Aciphex is a superb heartburn medication that has absolutley no side effects. I took the medication for over two years and felt normal. However, my new insurance plan will not cover this great med becaus they feel it is too expensive and my doctor changed my medication to Omeprazole because it is inexpensive. This new medication is awful. I have so many side effects that I am miserable. I am constipated and have a lot of gas and bloating. I am gaining weight and feel ravenous all the time. I have been suffering with pain in my back and around my rib cage. I am having problems sleeping as a result of the discomfort or possibly the medication. Worse yet - I still have terrible heartburn

I started using Aciphex two years ago after I had a scope procedure done to re-enlarge my esophagus due to GERD. My esophagus slowly began to close over the years. I had very uncomfortable symptoms of heartburn, difficulty swallowing, inability to eat, and chest and stomach pains that felt like cramps. Aciphex relieved all of my uncomfortable symptoms and I did not notice any side effects from this medication. I am extremely satisfied with Aciphex. If a generic version of Aciphex becomes available in the future that works just as well, I would be thrilled to pay less money because my insurance co-pay doubled this year and that is hard on my wallet.
I had tried every over-the-counter medication out there, but nothing worked as well as, if at all, as Aciphex.
