Content:
The injection contains the following:
300,000 units/dose: 150,000 units each of penicillin G benzathine and penicillin G procaine.
600,000 units/dose: 300,000 units each of penicillin G benzathine and penicillin G procaine.
1,200,000 units/dose: 600,000 units each of penicillin G benzathine and penicillin G procaine.
2,400,000 units/dose: 1,200,000 units each of penicillin G benzathine and penicillin G procaine.
Injection, 900/300 per dose. 900,000 units of penicillin G benzathine and 300,000 units of penicillin G procaine.
Uses:
Streptococcal infections (A, C, G, H, L, and M) without bacteremia, of the upper respiratory tract, skin, and soft tissues. Scarlet fever, erysipelas, pneumococcal infections, and otitis media.
Note: For severe pneumonia, empyema, bacteremia, pericarditis, meningitis, peritonitis, and arthritis of pneumococcal etiology, use aqueous penicillin G during the acute stage.
Contraindications:
Use to treat syphilis, gonorrhea, yaws, bejel, and pinta.
Additional Drug Interactions:
Aspirin, ethacrynic acid, furosemide, indomethacin, sulfonamides, or thiazide diuretics may compete with penicillin G for renal tubular secretion

Streptococcal infections.
Adults and children over 27 kg: 2,400,000 units, given at a single session using multiple injection sites or, alternatively, in divided doses on days 1 and 3;
children 13.5-27 kg: 900,000-1,200,000 units;
infants and children under 13.5 kg: 600,000 units.
Pneumococcal infections, except meningitis.
Adults: 1,200,000 units;
pediatric: 600,000 units. Give q 2-3 days until temperature is normal for 48 hr. |
