Action/Kinetics:
Acts by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis, which is required for cytoplasmic membrane integrity of fungi. Active against a broad range of organisms including many strains of
Trichophyton rubrum and
T. mentagrophytes. Systemic absorption is low.
Uses:
Topical treatment of tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea versicolor, and tinea corporis (ringworm) due to
Trichophyton rubrum, T. mentagrophytes and
Epidermophyton floccosum.
Cream only to treat tinea versicolor due to
Malassezia furfur in adults and children.
Contraindications:
Ophthalmic or vaginal use.
Special Concerns:
Use with caution during lactation.
Side Effects:
Dermatologic: Pruritus, burning, stinging, irritation, erythema, fissuring, maceration, contact dermatitis, scaling, tingling, pain, dyshidrotic eczema, folliculitis, papules, rash, nodules.

Dosage
?Cream (1%), Lotion (1%)
Adults and childen: Apply 1% cream or lotion to cover affected areas and immediately surrounding areas once or twice daily for tinea pedis, tinea corporis, and tinea cruris. Apply cream only to affected areas once daily for tinea versicolor. To prevent recurrence, continue treatment for 2 weeks for tinea corporis, tinea versicolor, and tinea cruris and for 1 month for tinea pedis.
