Classification: Ophthalmic antihistamine Action/Kinetics: A histamine H 1 receptor antagonist. Duration: 2 hr. A small amount of the drug is absorbed into the systemic circulation. Uses: Temporary relief of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis. Contraindications: Use while soft contact lenses are being worn. Special Concerns: The drug is only for ophthalmic use. Safety and efficacy have not been determined in children less than 12 years of age. Side Effects: Ophthalmologic: Transient stinging and burning, visual disturbances, eye pain, eye dryness, red eyes, lacrimation, discharge from eyes, eyelid edema. CNS: Headache, fatigue, somnolence. Miscellaneous: Pharyngitis, cough, nausea, rash, erythema, dyspnea. How Supplied: Ophthalmic Suspension: 0.05%
