Classification: Adrenergic agent, bronchodilator See Also: See also Sympathomimetic Drugs. Action/Kinetics: Has a greater stimulating activity on beta-2 receptors of the bronchi than on beta-1 receptors of the heart. Causes relief of bronchospasms. Inhalation: Onset, within 5 min; peak effect: 15-60 min; duration: 2-3 hr. Partially metabolized; excreted in urine. Uses: Bronchial asthma, bronchospasms due to chronic bronchitis or emphysema, bronchiectasis, pulmonary obstructive disease. Special Concerns: Safety and efficacy have not been established in children less than 12 years of age.
