20-240 mg/day, depending on disease.

One-third to one-half the PO dose q 12 hr.
?Rectal
100 mg in retention enema nightly for 21 days (up to 2 months of therapy may be needed; discontinue gradually if therapy exceeds 3 weeks).
?Topical Ointment, Cream, Gel, Lotion, Solution, Spray
Apply sparingly to affected area and rub in lightly t.i.d.-q.i.d.

General uses.
Initial: 15-240 mg/day depending on use and on severity of the disease. Usually, one-half to one-third of the PO dose is given q 12 hr.
Adrenal insufficiency, acute.
Adults, initial: 100 mg IV;
then, 100 mg q 8 hr in an IV fluid;
older children, initial: 1-2 mg/kg by IV bolus;
then, 150-250 mg/kg/day
IV in divided doses;
infants, initial: 1-2 mg/kg by IV bolus;
then, 25-150 mg/kg/day in divided doses.
Hydrocortisone sodium succinate

Initial: 100-500 mg;
then, may be repeated at 2-, 4-, and 6-hr intervals depending on response and severity of condition.
