Classification: Anticholinergic Content: Each tablet, capsule, or 5 mL elixir contains: Anticholinergic: Atropine sulfate, 0.0194 mg. Anticholinergic: Hyoscyamine sulfate, 0.1037 mg. Anticholinergic: Scopolamine hydrobromide, 0.0065 mg. Sedative: Phenobarbital, 16.2 mg. NOTE: The Extentabs contain three times the amount of drugs found in tablets. Uses: Possibly effective as an adjunct in the treatment of irritable colon, spastic colon, mucous colitis, and acute enterocolitis. Has also been used in the treatment of duodenal ulcer. Special Concerns: It is not known with certainty whether or not anticholinergic drugs aid in the healing in duodenal ulcer or decrease the rate of recurrence or prevent complications.
