Action/Kinetics: Synthetic ACTH derivative that causes effects similar to those of ACTH, although fewer hypersensitivity reactions have been noted. The activity of 0.25 mg cosyntropin is equal to 25 units of ACTH.

Uses: Diagnosis of adrenocortical insufficiency.

How Supplied: Powder for injection: 0.25 mg

Dosage
?IM, SC
Adults, usual: 0.25 mg dissolved in sterile saline. Range: 0.25-0.75 mg. Pediatric, under 2 years: 0.125 mg IM.
?IV
Adults: 0.25 mg given over a 2-min period.
?IV Infusion
Adults: 0.25 mg given at a rate of 0.04 mg/hr over a 6-hr period.
