Content: Antitussive: Codeine phosphate, 10 mg/tablet or 20 mL. Expectorant: Guaifenesin, 300 mg/tablet or 20 mL.

Uses: Relief of cough due to a cold or inhaled irritants. To loosen mucus and thin bronchial secretions.

Contraindications: Asthma, during labor and delivery. Use of tablets in children less than 12 years of age and use of the liquid in children less than 6 years of age.

Special Concerns: Use with caution in clients with severe CNS depression, respiratory depression, acute alcoholism, chronic pulmonary disease, acute abdominal conditions, seizure disorders, fever, hypothyroidism, Addison's disease, ulcerative colitis, prostatic hypertrophy, following recent GI or urinary tract surgery, and in significant renal or hepatic dysfunction, in the very young and elderly, and during lactation.

Side Effects: CNS: CNS depression, lightheadedness, dizziness, sedation, headache, euphoria or dysphoria, transient hallucinations, disorientation, visual disturbances, seizures. CV: Tachycardia, bradycardia, palpitations, syncope, faintness, orthostatic hypotension, circulatory depression. GI: N&V;, stomach pain, constipation, biliary tract spasm, increased colonic motility in those with ulcerative colitis. GU: Oliguria, urinary retention. Allergic: Pruritus, urticaria, angioneurotic edema, laryngeal edema, anaphylaxis. Miscellaneous: Flushing of the face, sweating, weakness.

Drug Interactions: Additive CNS depression if used with alcohol, sedatives, antianxiety agents, and MAO inhibitors

Dosage
?Oral Solution, Tablets Cough/colds, bronchial congestion.
Adults and children over 12 years of age: One tablet q 4 hr or 20 mL (4 teaspoonfuls) q 4 hr. Children, 6-12 years of age: 10 mL (2 teaspoonfuls) q 4 hr.
