nose bleeds Quote | Reply

Okay I am 16 years old I have had nose bleeds for the past two days,
and today. Each nose bleed is so far worse every time. Only my left
nostral bleeds, it happens around 8-10 at night after I have ate. I
have read that nose bleeds can be caused by high blood pressure, but
when I was just recently tested at one of those wal-mart blood testing
thingys I was below the average low. I exercise everyday, and lift
weights I have been doing this for quite a while. I have been on
acutane an acne drug for five months now. I weigh 195 and am 5 foot 11
inches. I have not been scratching or picking a lot at my nose, and it
is not sore please help thank you.

It is unlikely that you suffer from high blood pressure at your young
age. Your nosebleeds could have been brought on from the weight
lifting. The blood vessels in the nose are very close to the surface
and can rupture easily while lifting too much weight. Are you
overdoing it - pushing yourself to lift too much, too soon? You could
possibly need to have the vessel cauterized (since you say that the
bleeding is worse with each bleed). Are you taking any certain
medications that can bring on nose bleeds such as aspirin or a
antihistamine? Have you had a cold recently? Is there enough moisture
in the air of your home or your bedroom? I am asking you a lot of
questions because there are a lot of reasons/causes for a recurrent
nose bleed. It it doesn't stop after a couple more days, see your
family doctor, okay? Also, if you have any signs of dizziness, changes
in your vision, unusual bruising on parts of your body or anything
else out of the ordinary, see a doctor even sooner.

Hey Andrew, how are you doing? The most common side effects of
isotretinoin are dry skin, itching, dry nose, nosebleeds (epistaxis),
cracks in the corners of the mouth (chilitis), dry mouth, and
inflammation of the whites of the eyes. Rarely, isotretinoin can cause
brain swelling (pseudotumor cerebri or intracranial hypertension),
which produces nausea, vomiting, headache, and changes in vision.
Best wishes,
