Wisdom Teeth Can't Post

I know that your teeth don't ever really grow in completely straight but how do I know whether I should get my wisdom teeth removed? And what options are there for people who have money issues?
(just one problem after another...)

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepth in harvest is a son that causeth shame. (Wisdom of Solomon)

Hey Guest, how are you doing?

The American Dental Association (ADA) recomends extraction of wisdom teeth when:
  • Wisdom teeth only partially erupt. This leaves an opening for bacteria to enter around the tooth and cause an infection. Pain, swelling, jaw stiffness and general illness can result.

  • There is a chance that poorly aligned wisdom teeth will damage adjacent teeth.

  • A cyst (fluid-filled sac) forms, destroying surrounding structures such as bone or tooth roots.
Furthermore, ADA recommends patients ask the dentist about the health and positioning of their wisdom teeth.

Once you have an estimated cost determined for dental work, you should discuss your financial situation with your Dentist prior to your visit, the dentist may offer you a payment plan to help. If you still find difficulty financially, then we will have to revert to the days of old, and work for the money.

Your options are:
  1. Use a credit card. If you don't have one, maybe a friend or family member has one they will let you use. Or you may want to apply for one.
  2. Have a Garage Sale or Yard Sale.
  3. Pawn your jewelry or other valuables.
  4. Borrow it. Perhaps all the money from one source or small amounts of money from multiple sources.
  5. Go to a payday advance store.
  6. Go to a Car Title Loan store.
  7. Ask your employer for your vacation pay early.
  8. Borrow money against your insurance policies.
  9. Eliminate a cell phone temporarily.
  10. Attend FREE local entertainment venues instead of going to the movies and such.
  11. Ask a creditor to defer a payment or two until the end of the loan.
  12. Work overtime at your job.
  13. Get an additional part time job
  14. Baby Sit
  15. Clean houses
  16. Provide a service for money on your day off. Use your talent: teach panio, tutor kids, mow lawns, run errands for seniors or busy people.
  17. Have a car wash. Ask your family to get involved.
  18. Hve a bake sale.
  19. Cut out all unnecessary expenses and extras for as long as it takes.
  20. Ask around for business Investors, people who know and trust you. Instead of borrowing money, ask for an investment loan. Ask five of your closest friends to each invest 5 dollars, for example. If you have 10 friends, that would be 50 dollars. (That makes you want to quit your job, and make friends for a living, doesn't it? Wink) Then they will be repaid their initial investment plus recieve a portion of my profit for a predetermined amount or time because they helped you get started and believed in you.
  21. Sell your kids TV
  22. Go door to door and ask for donations to add to your Garage Sale. Most people will be glad to get rid of stuff and don't want to take the time to have their own sale.
  23. Buy one lottery ticket. It only takes one to win. (This will not work if your are going to start your own business. Laugh)
  24. Reduce or eliminate your cable or satelite bill.
  25. Sell your TV. It's not making you any richer.
  26. Sell your other TV
  27. Sell your kid's TV
  28. Sell your neighbor's TV. Get the point? Watching TV does not make you any money. (That would such bad advice to tell to a kid. Unimpressed)
  29. Return Christmas or Birthday gifts for money.
  30. I have even sold plasma and have heard of people participating in product experiments to raise money.
The cost of a Simple Extraction in Little Rock is $85 Average Fee to 119 Highest Fee; to find an estimated cost in your area, click here. You may also contact the Dental provider for which you choose, they are anticipated to give you a quote.

Best wishes,

Re: [Guest] Wisdom Teeth [In reply to] Can't Post

If your wisdom teeth aren't giving you any trouble as they come in, then you won't need to worry about having them extracted unless your dentist forsees an issue with them. If you check around with the various local offices in your area, many dentists out there hold unadvertised monthly, bi-monthly etc, clinics where they are willing to perform care free of charge. When I had two of my wisdom teeth extracted (years ago), I didn't have dental insurance at the time and directly told my oral surgeon that at the time of my visit. He reduced his fee and only ended up charging me $45.00 for the entire thing. Don't be afraid to ask the doctor for a discount. They almost never say no. Also, you can make arrangements to make small payments on any balance you have. Most doctors are very good about this.
