What so you mean by "the urine smells different?" How would you describe the odor, e.g. sweet? Although, the smell of urine can alarm of a UTI, the urine also may look different from usual. With a urinary tract infection, especially in the lower urinary tract (the bladder or urethra), urine in the toilet bowl may look cloudy (whitish instead of clear pale yellow) and less easy to see through, or reddish with traces of blood in it. The smell and the look of you urine plays a very important role in helping us determine if you have a UTI or not. This would help to prevent over looking a more serious disease, i.e. diabetes.
