i was on ortho-tri-cyclen for about 3 years and loved it. it completely cleared up my acne, regulated heavy periods and eliminated cramps. about 3 months ago my pharmacist switched me to the generic tri-sprintec and i have been experiencing depression, mood swings, spotting between periods, swelling breasts, and some acne. i wasn't sure of the cause until read on other websites that women have experienced problems with generics. i'm going to try and switch back to the ortho-tri-cyclen that i loved asap.

I am about to take tri-sprintec, and I was just wondering if anyone has had any serious weight gain, because I'm going to be getting married in a few months, and gaining weight is the last thing I need on my mind.

I am 16 and my mother wanted me to go on birth control since my boyfriend and i have been together for three years now and the sex topic has become an issue..The first time i took tri-sprintec it was for my Horrible cycles, and i started Sunday start. Now(about a year later) Im going back on it so that i dont become pregnant;HOWEVER, i thought i could start any day so i began on the Tuesday after my period, only now to carefully read the instructions that seem to say you should only start on the Sunday after or on the first day of your period. Does anyone know if i am still fertile or if i should stop taking the pills?? I cant ask my mom, shes stressed enough already....

I have been on tri-sprintec for 10 months and just recently noticed that I was developing facial hair. I thought this was odd so I did a little research on Tri-sprintec (the only medicine that I am on) and found I am not the only one with this side effect!
Little did I know I have been experiencing two other side affects over the last 10 months. I have been unusually exhausted, even after a good night's rest. I have also experienced "continuous" periods...meaning, I would have a short period and then spot (dark brown) for the rest of the entire month. After a several months of this, I went back to my doctor and made sure nothing else was wrong. There wasn't.
My speculation is that my body is reacting adversely to this medicine since I have not experienced any of these simptoms for extended periods of time as I have since starting this medicine 10 months ago.

I just switched from TriCyclen to Tri-Sprintec, and I'm itchy, horribly emotional, and have been spotting and had cramps and brown discharge for weeks 2 and 3. I had hives the first week, too. I had no problems with TriCyclen, has anyone been on TriNessa? How is it? I'm getting off the TriSprintec, I hate it.

There are reactions like this with any medication. Yours just might be short-term as your body adjusts to it. However, if your symptoms last longer than two weeks or worsen in any way (or you develop new ones) then you really should stop taking this medication.

I was taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen for about 3 years(free of any problems or concerns because I think I was too young to notice) and then I stopped taking them for almost 2 years and now I'm on Tri-Sprintec(for 4 months now) and I swear it's making me crazy. I've always had a little depression in my moods and some swings here and there but I've never experienced a roller coaster like this before. It usually starts the first day going up and by the third day I feel like I've been through loops. I'm angry, upset, depressed, tired but can't sleep, very sad and when I try to pinpoint why I'm any of these things I can't. I yell at my boyfriend and my friends(who all sort of just put up with it) and pick fights for no plausible reason. I've become nervous and paranoid at my work, tho some days are definatly better than others. My period only lasts for like 3 days tops(if that). My life has become a blur and I get confused and sidetracked easily(though I don't know if I attribute that last part to the pill, I call that short attention span:)
I wouldn't have thought to connect it to taking this pill but it pretty much started in the end of the 2nd month/start of the third and has not changed since. I mean I feel like I'm becoming manic or something. I know I was not always like this. I thought it was going to help but now I'm wondering if it's worth it(and if it even is connected). Has anyone else noticed a change in mood? Is this all in my head?(LOL the way I've been lately I don't know if that would surprise me)
On a side note, my skin has cleared quite considerably but in the week of white pills it usually breaks out a little(this is when my mood starts leveling out again). I think that acne is something that sucks but if the only good thing by taking a pill, that could make you feel like youre going crazy, is blemish-free skin, I say stick to Clearasil and stay away from greasy foods.

I just switched pharmacies, and my new one gave me Tri-Sprintec for the first time this month. I had been on Ortho for 5 years, and then Trinessa for about a year. I found that Trinessa was actually pretty great (in fact, my acne cleared right up on Trinessa, more so than on Ortho). But I'm half-way through Tri-Sprintec and it is AWFUL. I'm gaining weight faster than I could imagine AND I exercise and eat as much as I always have, and I'm normally a very little girl who always stays the same weight. Also, I've been oozing brownish spotting fluid for a week now and I'm constantly tired and groggy. I REALLY recommend against this generic. It is seriously making me crazy--I'm thinking of calling my doctor to stop this pack altogether and start up on Trinessa again next time around. Yes, I would forgo sex just to get off this horrible generic!
