]Action/Kinetics:
Peak serum levels: 3-7 hr. t1/2, adults: 40-60 hr; t1/2, children: 30 hr. Steady serum levels reached in 7-10 days. Therapeutic serum levels: 40-100 mcg/mL. Not bound to plasma protein. Metabolized in the liver. Both inactive metabolites and unchanged drug are excreted in the urine.
Uses:
Absence (petit mal) seizures.
Additional Drug Interactions:
Both isoniazid and valproic acid may 
the effects of ethosuximide.

Dosage

Absence seizures.
Adults and children over 6 years, initial: 250 mg b.i.d.; the dose may be increased by 250 mg/day at 4-7-day intervals until seizures are controlled or until total daily dose reaches 1.5 g. Children under 6 years, initial: 250 mg/day; dosage may be increased by 250 mg/day every 4-7 days until control is established or total daily dose reaches 1 g.
